Ordered custom kitchen cabinets with an online design tool and got back a puzzle box
I spent a whole Saturday using one of those builder websites to design my dream kitchen. Plugged in every measurement from my 1940s bungalow in Portland, double checked everything three times. The cabinets showed up six weeks later and none of the doors matched the frames. Called the company and the rep told me, 'Oh yeah, our software doesn't handle uneven floors well.' So now I've got a pile of parts that look like Ikea exploded in my garage. Anyone else have a custom builder who ignored the actual dimensions of their house?

Three hundred and forty seven dollars for the "premium design consultation" and they couldn't account for a floor that's been settling for 80 years. I guess "custom" means they custom decide which measurements to ignore. At least your garage looks like a modern art installation now, that's gotta be worth something. My buddy had the same problem with his bungalow in Seattle, ended up shimming everything with playing cards and shims from the hardware store.

The 1940s bungalow curse is real. My place in Denver has the same problem. I tried one of those online cabinet places and they sent me doors that were a full inch off because my floors slope like a funhouse. Ended up having to cut my own custom shims from scrap wood behind the fridge. Playing cards are actually genius, I might try that for the last few doors that still wobble. Did you check if your wall studs are even straight?
