Our framing crew cut waste by 40% after switching to a new layout system

We just finished a custom home project in Bend, Oregon, where we tried a panelized layout system for the first time. Over the 12-week framing phase, we measured the scrap pile each Friday. By the end, we had 40% less waste material compared to the last three stick-built homes we did. The main cause was more precise cutting lists generated by the software, which meant fewer off-cuts and mistakes. It wasn't a huge tech change, but the difference in cleanup time and material cost was clear. Has anyone else here moved to a panelized or similar system and seen a different result?

That's a solid drop in waste. Did you find the software's cut list was actually too perfect, like it left you with almost no usable scrap for blocking or bracing later on? We had to adjust our order for some smaller stuff because of that.

Totally saw the same thing on our last job (we switched to a panel system too). The cut list from the software was a game changer, way less random scrap wood to deal with. Made the whole site feel cleaner, honestly.
