Pro tip: The 37th change order is where you stop being polite

We just hit change order number 37 on a build in Boulder. Everyone says to expect them and be flexible, but that number really hit me. It was for moving a light switch six inches because the client's decorator said it would look better behind a vase. The cost for the electrician and drywall guy was over $800. I think the common view is that the client is always right, but at some point, you have to push back on stuff that costs a ton for no real reason. This wasn't about structure or safety, it was just a mood. After this one, I sat down with them and said any more changes like that would need a new fee schedule. Has anyone else set a hard limit on aesthetic tweaks late in the game?

Wait, just for one outlet? That's insane. What's it even supposed to do?
