Ran into a foundation drainage issue that dragged on for 6 weeks

I was building a small house in Spokane Valley and the dirt under the slab kept holding water after every rain. The builder kept saying it would dry out, but after three weeks I called in a geotech guy who found a buried clay seam nobody saw. It took another three weeks to dig out the footings and install a proper French drain system. Has anyone else had a hidden soil problem blow up their timeline like that?

Start checking the water runoff from your neighbors' lots uphill too.

Digging into a new build and finding a surprise clay seam is like ordering a pizza and biting into a soggy cardboard crust.
