Vent: My framer messed up the load bearing wall in the wrong spot

We were putting up the main floor walls last Thursday on a house in Tacoma and the framer cut a header opening 16 inches off from the plans. I didn't catch it until after they had the whole wall sheathed and braced. Had to tear out the OSB and redo the whole thing, cost us an extra day and about $400 in wasted materials. Anyone else have a framer miss a critical dimension on a wall layout?

16 inches off is bad but it’s a wall, not the foundation.

Actually read something the other day from a structural engineer who said walls can be off more than people think and still be fine (assuming it's not load bearing or anything). He mentioned a house from the 1960s he inspected where every interior wall was at least a foot off from the plans and it was standing just fine 50 years later. Course it depends on local codes and how the wall was framed but 16 inches does sound like a lot though.
