Went with spray foam over fiberglass for my last build, saved me in the long run
I was picking between spray foam and fiberglass for the insulation in a custom house I was helping build near Richmond. The fiberglass was way cheaper upfront, like $2,000 less, but the builder I work with talked me into spray foam. After 6 months the owners said their heating bills were half of what their neighbors paid. Has anyone else found spray foam worth the extra cash or did you regret it?

I've noticed this same thing with other upgrades too, not just insulation. It's like when people cheap out on windows or a good front door. They save a few hundred bucks upfront but end up paying double in energy costs every winter. Spray foam is just one piece of that bigger puzzle where spending a little extra now saves you way more down the road.

You said "spending a little extra now saves you way more down the road." I'm not totally sold on that. People throw that logic around all the time like it's always true. I've seen guys spend triple on a fancy front door and the old one was perfectly fine. Sometimes the return takes so long it doesn't matter. Not everything is a crisis if you buy the cheap version.
