Last month at a coffee shop in Columbus, a guy saw me squinting at a sketchy email on my laptop and just said, 'hover before you click, always.' He showed me how the display name said 'PayPal Support' but the actual sender address was some random gmail. That one move has saved me twice already from fake invoices. Has anyone else had a quick interaction like that that stuck with them?

That exact trick has saved me too. My bank was supposedly sending me a security alert and the sender address looked close but off by one letter. A coworker had shown me the same hover trick a few years ago during a slow shift. Now I do it for everything, even emails from people I know. It took one bad phishing attempt that almost got my login info to make it a habit. Honestly that two minute lesson has been more useful than any security training I ever sat through.
