My old boss was wrong about password managers being a security risk
He told me they were a single point of failure and refused to use one. Last month his personal email got breached because he reused the same password across 3 sites. Anyone else have a coworker or boss who dismissed password managers until it was too late?

People treat digital security like it's some kind of magic instead of just common sense. Your old boss is the same type who locks their car door but leaves their house keys under the doormat. The real single point of failure is usually the human being who thinks they can remember 50 unique passwords. Password managers have been audited by security researchers for over a decade now, they're about as safe as anything gets. Reusing passwords is like using the same house key for every lock in town and being surprised when someone tries it. It's a mindset thing some people have where they'd rather stay stubborn than admit they were wrong.

Yeah, @thompson.robin hit it. What finally got through to my old boss was showing him the breach report from that one site he used. Then I set up a password manager on his phone right there and let him try it for a week - he never looked back. Sometimes you just have to make the first step for them.
