My sister said her new smart fridge needed a password and I just stared at her...
We were setting it up in her apartment and she asked if 'password123' was fine for the wifi login. I told her that's like leaving your front door open with a sign saying 'come on in'... she had no idea her toaster could be a way in. How do you even start explaining this stuff to family without sounding like you're yelling at them?

Ever try to explain why a weak password is bad? My buddy's dad used the same password for his email, his bank, and his smart thermostat. Someone got in and cranked the heat to 90 all summer while they were at work. The bill was insane. Now he uses a little notebook and writes them all down differently, which is its own problem, but at least it's not one key for everything.

Honestly, my own password habits are a mess too. I had a spreadsheet for a while, but then I forgot the password to open the spreadsheet. It's a real "putting your keys in a safe and forgetting the combo" situation.
