Showerthought: Most people reuse passwords across 14 different accounts on average
I saw that stat from a Digital Shadows report last week and it honestly shocked me. How many of those accounts do you think have already been compromised in a data breach?

Heard my buddy's sister got locked out of her Netflix cause someone guessed her password from an old breach.

Huh, actually that stat might be a bit off. Most studies I've seen put the average closer to 3 or 4 reused passwords, not 14. Digital Shadows looked at business credentials in 2019 so their numbers are skewed. Normal people don't have 14 different accounts on average, or if they do it's way less. Facebook, Netflix, email, maybe a couple shopping sites. That's it.
