Trying to track down the original tile pattern from the Hamilton Mall food court took me 11 weeks, and I still don't know if I got it right
Back in March I started hunting for the exact 1987 tile spec used in the food court at the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing, New Jersey, because I wanted to match it for a photo restoration project. Side A says just find a similar color and move on, side B says the whole point of documenting these places is getting the details right. It took 11 weeks, three calls to the county historical society, and one very patient retired maintenance guy named Ray who mailed me a photocopy of an old vendor invoice. Where do you all land on this, is chasing exact original materials worth the time or are we better off just capturing the vibe before it's gone?
