Appreciation post for the old guy at church who actually admitted he was wrong about climate change after 5 years

Last Sunday after service, Mr. Henderson told me he finally looked at the data from NOAA after I kept bugging him about it, and he said 'you were right, this is real,' which left me standing there not knowing what to say back.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean the guy finally came around after 5 years, sure, but what does one old man changing his mind really change about anything? Feels like people make a bigger deal out of these moments than they need to. He sat there stubborn for half a decade and now everyone acts like he's some hero for finally reading a government website. Wouldn't you rather just move on than stand there awkwardly waiting for a pat on the back?
