Compared a $50 digital piano to a $500 acoustic upright and wow
Honestly, I thought my cheap keyboard was fine until my aunt let me try her old Yamaha upright for a month. The difference in the way the keys felt and the sound just filled the room, it was like learning to play all over again. Anyone else had a similar shock when they tried a higher end instrument for the first time?

i saw a video where a tech explained that digital pianos use samples while acoustics have actual strings vibrating, and that really clicked after reading your post. the way the sound bounces around the room in real time vs coming out of speakers is honestly a game changer if you're used to a keyboard. its wild how much the physical feedback changes everything about how you play.

I had that same moment when I switched from a weighted digital to a real upright (it was a used Yamaha) and suddenly my phrasing made way more sense.
