Had a buddy from church tell me he votes opposite of his family just to keep the peace at Thanksgiving
He said he's been doing it for 12 years now and honestly it made me wonder how many of us are just nodding along to avoid arguments without really thinking about where we stand.

Isn't 12 years a little long to be faking it though? Like at some point you gotta actually figure out what you believe, not just what keeps the table quiet.

Yeah 12 years is a lot. My cousin spent a solid decade pretending to like his wife's cooking. She made this terrible meatloaf that was basically a brick of ketchup and breadcrumbs. He finally cracked at a Christmas dinner and admitted it. Marriage counselor said it was a trust issue but I think it was more about the meatloaf. Anyway @grant728 you make a fair point about figuring stuff out eventually.
