My barber of 8 years said something about my politics and now I feel weird about my haircut
I go to this guy named Ray in a tiny shop in Toledo, been cutting my hair every 3 weeks for 8 years, and last Saturday he started going off about the election while he had the clippers near my ear. I just sat there nodding because honestly what am I supposed to say with a stranger holding sharp stuff by my head. Here is the weird part, he actually made one point I couldn't argue with, and now I keep catching myself half agreeing with a dude I never really talked to about anything but my fade. Do you all ever just let someone talk in a spot like that, or do you actually push back and risk the awkward rest of the cut?
The "half agreeing" part is the real thing here, not the politics. Ray's been in your life every 3 weeks for 8 years, that's like 130 haircuts. That's more than some family members. So when he says something that lands, your brain files it away even if you never wanted his input. You don't have to push back or agree with everything, just let it sit. The awkward part usually fades by the next cut anyway.
