My uncle won't come to Thanksgiving since I said I voted for the other guy, and now I'm wondering if I handled it right
My uncle and I got into it over politics at a family BBQ in July, and he said flat out "I don't even know who you are anymore" just because we backed different candidates. I tried to keep it about the actual issues like taxes and roads instead of getting personal, but he took every point like I was attacking him. He's skipped two family dinners since then and my mom keeps telling me I should just call and smooth it over. Honestly I think we could still argue about this stuff and stay cool, because that's how it used to be with us. Has anyone here had a family member go cold on you over a vote, and did calling first actually help or just make it worse?
