PSA: Switching to a simple bullet journal for debate prep actually worked for me
I used to just wing my arguments for this forum and kept losing track of counterpoints. I tried a cheap $3 composition book from Target and now I organize each topic with a left page for my points and a right page for their likely rebuttals. After 3 debates this month on voting reform, I finally felt like I had control instead of just reacting. Has anyone else found a low-tech method that beats all the apps and templates out there?

Man, that's a REALLY good idea with the two page setup. I've been drowning in digital notes and this sounds way more solid.

The two-page method sounds nice but honestly it sets you up for failure in a real debate (not a forum one). You're basically assuming you know what the other side will say, which means you're not listening to them in the moment. Real debates have curveballs and if you're glued to a script you'll miss half the stuff they actually bring up. Digital notes let me search keywords on the fly and pull up sources way faster than flipping pages in a notebook. Plus that $3 book is gonna be a pain if you ever have to reference something from three debates ago (and you will). Low-tech is fine for some things but debating is about adapting, not memorizing pages.
