Saw a clip of a 1990s presidential debate and it felt like a different planet

I was watching an old archive clip from 1992 between Bush and Clinton, and the whole tone was just way more formal and policy-heavy. No one was trying to land a zinger for a 10-second clip. Now it feels like every debate is just rehearsed one-liners and gotcha moments. Do you think social media and 24-hour news cycles killed the old style of debating?

Totally agree. A slower news cycle just let people actually explain their positions back then.
