DAE remember when finding a Detroit storefront meant calling a guy named Pinky on Gratiot?
Sixteen months ago I found my spot on Michigan Ave by calling a landlord whose number was scribbled in a faxed list, and I only saw it after 3 weeks of chasing dead leads. Now I pull up the city's open parcel map and one Wayne County register page and I know who owns every empty building on the block in an afternoon. The free city parcel viewer and that assessor look-up saved me real cash on two spots I almost put money down on. Has anyone here used the Detroit Land Bank auction side for retail space, or is it still mostly residential?
