I tried a $50 cash bonus for early invoice payment and only 2 of 8 clients took it

Offered it to my 8 regular clients here in Detroit and just 2 paid early, but those 2 were my slowest payers so it kind of evened out. Now I'm wondering if a bigger percent discount would move the other 6, or if I should just stop chasing it and put late fees in my contracts instead.
