Took me 9 weeks to get my liquor license sorted out

Started a small restaurant in Hamtramck back in March and figured the liquor license would be the easy part since I already had the building and inspections done. Man was I wrong. The city kept asking for different paperwork each time I went in, like first they wanted the lease, then they wanted proof of insurance, then they wanted a diagram of where the bar would sit. Each visit added another 2 week wait just to get a response. Finally got it approved last Tuesday but only after I hired a consultant who knew exactly which forms to fill out in what order. Cost me $400 extra plus a month of lost bar sales. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of back and forth or did I just get unlucky with my location?

Consultants are making bank off people skipping a 10 minute phone call with the city clerk. Sounds like you paid $400 to learn what one Google search woulda told you.
