Vent: Everyone told me I was crazy for using a regular vacuum on drywall dust in Detroit

I spent my first 6 months in this business buying expensive HEPA vacs and still getting complaints about dust. Then I tried a $30 shop vac with a high-efficiency bag and a pre-filter mod I saw on YouTube, and it worked way better. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that beat the expensive gear?

Crazy how the low budget hacks sometimes outshine the pro stuff" - yeah my wallet definitely agrees with that, my wallet is still crying over the HEPA vac I bought that collects dust in my garage now. I once tried the dryer sheet trick on a job and ended up explaining to the client why their walls smelled like lavender instead of sawdust. Guess that's the price you pay for being cheap and clever at the same time.

Saw a video where some guy used a dryer sheet taped over the intake on his cheap shop vac and it caught all the fine dust. Tried it myself with drywall dust and it actually worked decent. Crazy how the low budget hacks sometimes outshine the pro stuff.
