A client called my digital art 'too perfect' last week
I was showing a finished landscape piece to a guy who runs a small print shop in Portland. He said it looked like I used too many filters and it had no soul. It stung at first but then I started looking at my older stuff from 2 years ago and I get what he meant. Has anyone else had a critique that actually made you change your whole approach to a piece?

Wait, you actually took their feedback to heart? Honestly that's rare and probably smart of you.

Picked up a psychology article the other day about how most people filter criticism through their ego first, so they never really hear what's being said. @wren_carr it sounds like you actually listened instead of just getting defensive, which is honestly a superpower. I've been trying to unlearn that knee-jerk reaction where you wanna explain why the feedback is wrong before even sitting with it. Takes practice but it's the only way to actually improve at anything.
