A gallery owner's casual comment made me check my file formats

Was at a small show in Austin last Saturday and the owner mentioned she skips any artist who submits JPEGs for prints, because it shows they don't care about the final piece. I've been uploading high-res JPEGs to my portfolio for like 3 years without thinking about it. She said she can tell within seconds whether someone actually prepped for exhibition or just dragged files off their phone. Now I'm going back through my whole online gallery and re-exporting everything as TIFFs or PNGs. Has anyone else lost opportunities just because of a lazy file choice?

Did she happen to mention whether it matters once you're already in the door, or is that just for the first look? Seems like a pretty stiff rule if you've got the work to back it up.
