Hit 500 sales on my art prints and it wasn't the number that got me

Last night I hit the 500th sale on my digital art prints. Thought it would feel like a big deal but honestly the real surprise was seeing the data on where they all went. Over half of those 500 went to people who found me through a single Reddit post I made back in March. Not my Instagram not my website just one random thread. Made me rethink where I spend my time posting. Has anyone else had a single platform just blow up for them out of nowhere?

One of my photos got shared on a pretty niche Tumblr blog back in 2021 and I still get random orders from it like twice a month. It was just a sunset shot I took on my phone and posted with no real caption. Now that one picture has probably paid for my whole internet bill for like two years. I have no idea who runs the blog or how they even found the photo. But I've tried to recreate that luck on purpose and it never works. It's weird how much of this stuff is just timing and a little bit of luck.

Yeah that "trying to force it" thing never works. Once you start overthinking what made something take off you kill the whole vibe. The ones that hit are always the ones you just threw up without thinking.
