I used to think my digital art needed to be perfect before posting, but a comment on my WIP changed my mind.

That "perfect before posting" mindset is a trap. Sharing WIPs gets you feedback when you can still use it, not just praise at the end. It makes the whole process way less stressful.

Totally agree, it's such a relief to post messy drafts. I used to sit on finished pieces for weeks overthinking tiny details. Now I just throw up a rough sketch and the comments often point out a fix I never would have seen myself. It completely changes the pressure from making something flawless to just making progress. Getting that early help saves so much time and frustration later on.

i gotta push back on this "it saves time and frustration" thing. honestly, getting random internet opinions on a rough sketch has messed up my workflow more than it's helped. people don't know what you're going for, so they suggest stuff that totally changes the vibe you were building. half the time i end up reworking things based on bad advice and then having to undo it all later. the pressure to just "make progress" can be just as stressful as the perfect finish trap, just in a different way. i'd rather sit on a piece and figure it out myself than let a bunch of strangers steer my process.
