Just picked a new drawing tablet after months of going back and forth

I had to choose between a big screen tablet and a smaller one without a screen. I went with the smaller Huion model because my old laptop can't handle a screen tablet well. After using it for a week, my line work is way cleaner and my wrist doesn't hurt. Has anyone else switched from a screen tablet to a regular one and been surprised?

Wait, you're telling me a different tablet actually fixed your wrist pain? I've used both types and my hand still cramps up after an hour no matter what. Maybe you just got better at drawing without staring straight down at a screen.

Honestly, I would have said the same thing as you, @ryang65. I tried a bunch of tablets and just figured the pain was part of drawing. Switching to one that tilts up a bit more was a total game changer for me though... it just puts my whole arm in a different spot. I still get tired, but that sharp cramping is gone. Maybe it's about finding the exact angle that doesn't fight your own posture.

Maybe you just got better at drawing without staring straight down at a screen." Oh man, I wish. No, my lines are still wobbly and my faces look like potatoes, but at least my wrist doesn't scream at me anymore. Honestly I think a lot of it is just swapping which part of your arm gets wrecked first. Screen tablet gave me a stiff neck and achy shoulders, pad tablet gives me a tired forearm. Can't win, just pick your poison.
