Just realized I was overcomplicating my digital art portfolio after watching my nephew scroll through Instagram
I spent last Tuesday totally redoing my art showcase website for the third time this year. Fancy layouts, hover effects, loading animations. Then my 14 year old nephew came over and opened Instagram on his phone. He scrolled through like 50 artists in 2 minutes and stopped on maybe 4 that had a clean grid and one strong image each. He said 'dude just show the art, nobody cares about your navigation menu.' It hit me that I was hiding my actual work behind all this design fluff. I stripped everything down to just full images with a short caption. My engagement on my actual site went up like 40% in 3 days. Anyone else ever realize they were putting too much effort into the frame and not enough into the picture?
