Question about getting the right blue for a sky in Procreate

Trying to paint a sunset scene last night. The sky color just looked wrong, like a cheap filter. Spent 4 hours messing with layer modes and color balance. Finally realized my screen brightness was way too high, washing everything out. Turned it down and the color finally matched my reference. Anyone else lose a whole evening to a dumb screen setting?

Start cranking that brightness down to like 40-50% if you are on an iPad, @taylorpatel. I had mine at 90% for months and all my skies looked like nuclear wastelands. Drop it way lower than you think feels normal, let your eyes adjust for 10 minutes, then try painting. The blues suddenly get that soft atmospheric depth instead of screaming at you. Screens lie to us constantly when they are cranked up.

My screen brightness is always at like 80% when I'm drawing. What percentage did you finally settle on to get the colors to look right? I've heard some people calibrate to a specific number for art.

Just get a color calibrator, it's worth it.
