Went to a digital art show in Austin and saw a piece that was just a QR code

It was at a gallery downtown last Friday, and the whole piece was a giant, perfectly printed QR code on the wall. I scanned it with my phone, and it just opened a blank white webpage. The artist was there and said the point was 'the anticipation of data that never arrives.' I paid fifteen bucks to get in, and that was the main attraction! Has anyone else run into art that was more about the idea than something you can actually look at?

Ha! That artist is definitely charging rent on hype. Fifteen bucks for a blank white page? You basically paid for a really exclusive error message. Next time someone tries that, I'd ask for a discount. "Oh sorry, my phone's anticipation battery is dead." I bet the artist's next masterpiece is just a blinking cursor on a laptop. "It represents the eternal loading of meaning." Yeah buddy, it represents my credit card getting a workout for nothing.

You got to experience a unique idea, which is what good art is for.

Guess my life is just one long, bad art show then.
