Wish I never took that advice about exporting at 72 DPI for web

A guy in a Facebook group told me to always export my digital paintings at 72 DPI for faster loading. I did that for six months. Then a gallery in Portland contacted me about a show and asked for 300 DPI files. Had to go back and re-export every single piece. Took me three evenings. Has anyone else run into bad technical advice that cost you time later?

Oh man, I had a buddy who did that exact same thing. He spent a whole weekend redoing all his files for a client who wanted prints. Said he wanted to punch that Facebook guy in the face.

100 bucks says that client didn't even notice the difference. Most people can't tell RGB from CMYK. Honestly @jackson.jenny, your buddy should have talked to the client first. A 10 minute call beats a weekend re-do every time. That Facebook guy just gave people what they wanted. Easy photos. No one asked for print-ready files.
