Dropped $20 on a VPN to get around a region lock and it worked for 3 days before the app banned me anyway
Everyone in this community says VPNs are the easy fix for censorship, and I want to push back on that a little. I paid about $20 for two years of a cheap VPN last spring because a video platform blocked my whole country from watching a documentary I needed for a class, and it worked fine for exactly 3 days. Then the app flagged my login, locked my account, and asked for a selfie with my ID, which I'm never doing. The counter argument I keep hearing is "just use a better VPN," but the ban wasn't about my IP, it was about my account age and payment history from a flagged region, so no tunnel was going to save me. Has anyone actually beaten an account level block like that, or is the real answer just making a whole new identity from scratch?
