Finally fought a bogus copyright claim on my small YouTube channel and won
I run a little channel about restoring old furniture, nothing big maybe 300 subscribers. Last month some random company filed a copyright claim on a video where I was just talking over a clip of an old 1950s public domain film. The claim said I used their music but the audio was literally me humming and the sound of sanding. It took me 3 weeks to file the counter notice because the process is so confusing and I was scared they might sue me personally. But I finally got an email yesterday saying the claim was released and my video is back up. It felt like a tiny victory but honestly it shows how broken the system is when a regular person has to fight for hours just to use something that is clearly public domain. Has anyone else here gotten a bogus claim reversed after a long fight?

But isn't that company still out there doing the same thing to other creators?

Oh man, @caseys30 you're totally right to call that out. But here's the thing nobody's really talking about - those companies often hide behind "new management" or a rebrand. I saw one that got slammed last year just relaunch with a slightly different company name and the same owner. They even kept the same email templates, just swapped the logo. So yeah, they're out there, but they're playing hide and seek with their identity. Any chance you've seen them pop up under a different name?
