Got a 30 day ban from a podcast forum for quoting a public domain book

I quoted a passage from an 1893 book about labor rights to push back on some guy arguing unions are obsolete. The mods said I was spreading "hateful ideology" and gave me a month off. The quote was literally in the public domain for over a century. Has anyone else run into moderation that seemed to target specific viewpoints rather than actual rule breaking?

Wait, was it the same mods who also hate when you bring up old court rulings on free speech? I got temp banned from a gaming forum once for linking a 1920s Supreme Court case about public assembly, mod said I was "pushing a political agenda" when I just wanted to talk about how guilds worked in old MMOs.

Man that's wild but honestly it tracks with how things are going everywhere now. I've noticed people can't even mention basic historical facts about labor or economics without someone screaming about how it's "dangerous." Feels like the whole internet has locked down certain topics where you gotta walk on eggshells just to cite a book from 130 years ago. Is that really where we're at with free discussion now?
