Got permanently banned from a subreddit for linking to a news article from a smaller outlet
Last month I posted a story from a local paper about a city council meeting where they discussed surveillance tech. The mods removed it and then hit me with a permanent ban for "promoting unverified sources." I messaged them asking which part wasn't verified and they never replied. Has anyone else had mods shut down discussion because the source wasn't mainstream enough?

A permanent ban for that? That's wild. I got hit once for posting a link to a local news site that covered a townhall meeting, and the mods said it was "blog spam." Didn't even get a warning, just a ban notice in my inbox. Feels like some mods hate anything that isn't the New York Times or CNN, even if the smaller story has more details on the ground.
