Noticed my neighborhood Facebook group got way quieter after the last election
I used to see 20+ posts a day arguing about local road repairs and school board stuff, but now it's mostly lost cat photos. The admin put up a notice saying all "political content" would be removed, which apparently means anything that mentions a street needing paving. Has anyone else seen their local online spaces turn into ghost towns after a policy change like that?

Honestly, the whole "no politics" rule is just code for "we don't want any real discussions anymore." People stop caring about local issues when they can't talk about why things are broken or who's to blame. You end up with a dead group full of nothing but cat pictures and nextdoor drama. Tbh, it feels like they'd rather have a quiet group than an honest one.

Ngl, that logic is why I got kicked off a birdwatching group for calling a pigeon a "corrupt establishment shill.
