Rant: My content review dragged on for half a year

My account was locked after sharing a news article that got flagged. The support team took ages to even look at my case, finally unlocking it after six months. Is this slow response time a new tactic to discourage appeals?

Ugh, I completely get it! My cooking video got flagged last fall for "harmful content" because I used a steak knife. It was just a knife from my kitchen! The whole review took over four months of radio silence. It totally feels like they make you wait so long that most people just give up and start a new account. So frustrating!

I saw a report last year that their main content review team in Phoenix only has about 300 people for the whole site. That's not a tactic, it's just being wildly understaffed. When a post like that news article goes viral and gets mass-reported, it probably gets dumped into a queue with ten thousand other flagged items. They don't have some master plan to discourage you, they just can't handle the basic volume. My guess is your case got lost behind a flood of bot reports and actual bad stuff they have to check first. It's less about strategy and more about a broken system trying to put out fires with a garden hose.
