Shoutout to the guy who showed me how to use a self-hosted blog after my main got nuked

I used to just post everything on a big platform, but after my account got flagged for a political meme in 2022, I switched. Now I run my own site on a VPS and just link to it, which feels way safer. Anyone else moved to self-hosting after a takedown?

My buddy lost his whole art blog in 2021, same deal. That push to figure out a VPS was stressful but so worth it now.

Had a friend who didn't back up her Etsy shop... lost years of customer data overnight when they locked her out. She's still kicking herself for not moving to her own site sooner.

Good move. Platforms can pull the rug out anytime. Self-hosting is the only real control you get.
