TIL I got around a YouTube copyright claim by flipping the video horizontally and pitching the audio down 3%
Had a 15-minute documentary on free speech in Singapore flagged for a 4-second music clip, so I reversed the image and slowed the audio slightly, and the claim vanished instantly, but is this actually a workaround or just gaming the system on a technicality and what do you guys think about using these tricks to avoid automated takedowns?

Yeah I read that YouTube's system mainly scans for exact audio matches so small changes can trick it.

That's a good point about the exact audio matches @aaron677. It makes sense that just a slight pitch change or speed difference could get past their system since it's only looking for a perfect match.
