TIL I'd been deleting my own comments because I thought the mods got them
So I joined this local city subreddit about 6 months ago and started posting about the new bike lane project. Every time I commented something critical of the city council, my comment would show up for a minute then vanish. I figured the mods were shadowbanning me or auto-mod was eating them. Last week I noticed my comment disappearing while I was literally watching the page on my phone. Turns out I was accidentally swiping left and hitting delete on my own posts. I felt like such a clown. Anyone else ever done something dumb like this and blamed censorship?

Man that sucks but honestly I would laugh so hard if I did this.

Oh man, it's true though. I mean, sometimes the only way to deal with a huge mess is to just laugh at yourself. Like the other day I watched my neighbor try to carry six grocery bags at once and drop a whole bag of apples all over the driveway. He just stood there laughing for like two minutes before picking them up. It's that moment when you realize you can either cry about it or just roll with it. And honestly, those moments stick with you more than the ones where everything goes perfectly.

Nah, I don't know. Laughing at yourself is fine but sometimes people use it to dodge the real mess. @pat_park you'd laugh but then you'd still have a driveway full of bruised apples. That's a half hour cleanup plus wasted money. I get choosing not to cry about it. But acting like it's all funny when you just made your life harder? That's just avoiding the problem.
