Why does nobody talk about how much YouTube's algorithm just pushes whatever gets the most complaints these days
I watched two debates about the same city council zoning change on different channels last week and the version with 4x the views had clearly cut out the speaker's main point to make them look bad, which just feels like a quiet way to kill the real argument without calling it censorship.

Yeah the "quiet way to kill the real argument" part is exactly what I've run into. Best fix I found is to manually block channels that do obvious edit jobs like that, YouTube's algorithm seems to stop feeding you similar garbage after a dozen or so blocks. Also start checking the video descriptions for timestamps to original sources, if they don't link anything it's usually a bad sign.
