Bought a $200 portable monitor in Bangkok and it changed my work setup

I was working from a cafe in Bangkok last month and my laptop screen felt way too small for my video edits. On a whim, I went to a tech mall and bought a 15-inch portable monitor for about 200 bucks. The first time I set it up at a co-working space, I had this perfect two-screen view and my workflow got so much faster. But then I tried to use it at a beach bar in Phuket, and the glare was so bad I couldn't see a thing, even in the shade. I ended up just packing it away and working from my laptop again, feeling a bit silly. It's amazing for indoor spots but totally useless in bright sun. Has anyone found a good portable screen that actually works outside?

Totally get the "useless in bright sun" thing. I had the same glare problem with my first portable screen. What finally worked for me was getting one of those matte screen protectors (the anti-glare kind) and putting it right on the monitor. It's not perfect, but it cuts down the reflections a ton. I can actually see my spreadsheet now at my kid's soccer practice, instead of just staring at my own face.

Sometimes the simplest fixes hide in plain sight.
