Chose a $10 co-working space in Bangkok over a $300 WeWork and honestly it's been way better for actually getting work done
The free-flowing coffee at the cheap place got me through 4 client calls yesterday without the sterile vibes of the fancy spot, has anyone else found that pricey spaces feel more like Instagram sets than real offices?

Yeah I actually saw something about this on a podcast the other day where they talked about how those fancy coworking spots basically just sell you a vibe instead of a place to actually work. I tried a WeWork for a month once and spent more time wandering around looking at the kombucha taps than I did in my actual seat. The cheap places have this no nonsense energy where everyone's just there to grind and nobody's trying to flex their laptop stickers. Plus the coffee might be bad but at least it's free and keeps flowing.

Wait, has anyone actually looked into who owns these places? I swear half the "local" budget coworking spots in my area are just fronts for some real estate company trying to make old office buildings look cool again. @amy_foster56 you reminded me that the cheap places do feel more genuine, but I bet that vibe is just as manufactured as the kombucha taps, just with worse marketing. The owners probably throw a coat of cheap paint on a room and call it a day knowing broke freelancers will show up for the low price. At least with the fancy ones you're paying for someone to pretend to care about your experience. Either way you're getting played.
