Chose a slow boat over flights through Southeast Asia and it was a mistake
Everyone in the digital nomad groups raves about slow travel by boat from Thailand to Laos. I spent 3 days on the Mekong River last month because I wanted to be a real traveler not a tourist. The seats were hard wooden benches and I got sick from the food on day two. Meanwhile my friend flew from Chiang Mai to Luang Prabang for $45 and arrived the same afternoon feeling fine. Has anyone else tried the 'authentic' route only to realize it was just uncomfortable?

Dude I took a slow boat in Bolivia once and it was the worst decision ever too.
