Just hit 100 different coffee shops worked from in 18 months

I was looking through my notes app and counted them all up. The 100th was a tiny place in Chiang Mai that charged 50 baht for a latte and let me sit for 5 hours. The milestone hit me because I realized I've spent more on oat milk this year than on some flights. It's a weird metric for this life, but it tracks the constant search for good wifi and a power outlet. Has anyone else kept a strange count like this that sums up the nomad grind?

Yeah, I totally get what you mean about grocery stores telling the real story. I used to think counting stuff was just for tourists, but tracking the normal stuff like that really does show how you actually lived somewhere.

Oh, I read a piece once that called grocery stores "the honest maps of a city." It really stuck with me.

Used to think counting things was missing the point of travel, like you were just collecting stamps. Then I started keeping a list of all the different grocery stores I've shopped at in different countries, just for basics like eggs and bread. It's not glamorous, but that list tells the real story of my last two years way more than any photo album. It tracks settling into a place, even for a few days, and the small win of finding your cereal. Your coffee shop count makes total sense to me now.
