Spent $300 on a local SIM card plan in Bali and it was a total waste
I bought a Telkomsel tourist package for a month, thinking it would give me solid internet for work. The speed was so bad in Canggu I couldn't even join a video call without it freezing. Has anyone found a good mobile provider for that area that actually works?

Ugh, that's the worst! Telkomsel is so hit or miss, it's all about location. I had the same plan last year and it was useless near the beach. Switched to XL Axiata and it was way better for video calls from my villa. Why do they even sell those tourist packs if they don't work where tourists actually stay?

Wasn't there a news article last year about Telkomsel focusing towers in business districts? I remember reading that their coverage map looks good on paper, but they put most of their signal strength in city centers and shopping malls. It makes sense why a beach area would get a weak signal.

Wait, didn't @emeryfox say it was a news article from last year? I remember that piece was actually from 2022, not last year. Still wild how Telkomsel can look solid on a map but totally drop out where people actually want to use it.
