The coworking space hack that saved me $200 a month
I was bouncing between coffee shops in Chiang Mai for 3 months, spending like $8 a day on lattes just to use the wifi. Then I found this little hotel lobby near Nimman that lets anyone sit in their lounge area for free if you buy a $2 iced tea. The wifi is faster than most paid spots and they never kick you out even after 5 hours. I booked a room there once for a weekend and now the front desk just waves me in whenever I show up. Has anyone else found a random spot like that in their city?

Is that hotel lobby near the old city at all? I found a similar setup in a Marriott in Kuala Lumpur where I just grab a coffee at the cafe and sit in their business center all afternoon. Saved me a fortune compared to those coworking spaces that charge by the day.

The area is close but not exactly right in the old city. It's maybe a 10 minute walk from the edge of the historic district, which isn't bad if the weather cooperates. The Marriott trick works here too though - I've done the same thing at the Hilton near the river, just bought a tea and used their lobby for a couple hours of catch up work. Just don't try it during peak check-in times or they'll ask you to move along.
