The guy at the Verizon store in Boise took 10 minutes to show me why my location was always on
I stopped in the Verizon store on Milwaukee Street in Boise about three weeks ago because my phone battery kept dying by 2pm, and the guy behind the counter, Marcus, pulled up my settings and showed me that 14 apps had location set to "always" when I only needed 2 of them on. He said most people never scroll past the first screen in the permissions menu, and he turned off background location for everything except maps and weather right there in front of me. Has anyone else gone through their app permissions lately and found stuff running in the background that you had no idea about?
Wait, did he say anything about apps that were using location when they were fully closed? Because thats the part that got me when I checked mine. I had like 6 shopping apps and a couple of games that were pinging my location in the background even when I never opened them, and one of them hit my GPS like 40 times in a day. Also did Marcus mention if turning off "always" breaks anything, like does your weather app still update if you set it to "while using"? I want to do the same cleanup but I'm scared I'll mess up my maps or my find my phone thing. What did he set yours to exactly, just curious how aggressive he got with it.
