Tried a password manager on my mom's laptop and it locked us both out for 2 hours
I set my mom up with a password manager last Saturday because she keeps her bank login on a sticky note, and it went sideways fast. The master password she picked got saved only on that laptop, and when the screen timed out, she couldn't get back in and neither could I. We sat on hold with support for 2 hours and 14 minutes, and the fix was wiping the whole vault and starting over. I know everyone here swears by these apps, but honestly a paper notebook in a locked drawer would have worked better for her. The recovery process asked for a code sent to an email she forgot the password to, which is the exact problem we were trying to solve. Has anyone set one of these up for an older parent without the whole thing blowing up? I want to try again but not the same way.
