Almost lost a whole track when my DAW crashed mid set

I was live streaming a little DJ set from my bedroom in San Salvador last Saturday, playing some unreleased stuff from the new album. Right as I was mixing into the third track, Ableton just froze on me completely, no response at all. I had to quickly unplug my MIDI controller and restart the whole thing while my stream was just dead air for like 45 seconds. Managed to get it back up and finished the set, but man, my heart was pounding. Has anyone else had a close call like that during a live thing?

Read somewhere that some DJs actually run two laptops just to avoid this exact nightmare. 45 seconds of dead air feels like an eternity when you're streaming, I bet your chat was going wild. Glad you got it back up though, nothing worse than that sudden panic when the software just gives up on you mid performance.

@blake302 also worth considering a cheap hardware mixer as backup, not just a second laptop.
